Our 1st Week with Hunter

We had lots of family and friends waiting for Hunter to make his appearance.  After Alan and I loved on him and Jo assessed him we handed him off to be adored by everyone else!  My mom got him 1st and then passed him on to Wayne and Susan.  Granny wouldn't hold him, she said she was afraid she would hurt him.  Nicole, Tessa, Brit, Kelsie, and Richard are a few of the others who were able to love on him!  At some point, Alan and Jo gave him his 1st bath.  Everyone left except mom and Tess (of course Jo was still there most of the time.)  Tess went to get us dinner at Wendy's and they ended up staying with us until we moved to postpartum and the nurses kicked them out!  We kept Hunter in the room with us the entire hospital stay (except a few times when the nursery nurse came to get him for assessment/vitals.)

Alan and I got no sleep that night, lab came in early that morning and then the visitor started piling in.  Hunter sure is one loved little boy and spent the entire day visiting with family and friends.  I can't remember who came when, but I wanna remember everyone who came to see him so I am going to list them...

Mom, Nicole, Granny, Richard, Logan, Tessa, Trish & Mag, Ashley & Joann, Daddy, Paula, Jackie & Andria, Wayne, Susan, Lois, Bill & Nancy, Samantha & Jordan, LIsa, Josh Palmer, Brandon Spears and Christi, Jamie Ledbetter, Margaux and Brandon Maynard, Brit & Thad, Jo & Noah w/Ryder, Kelsie and Lewey, Julie (from work), Hailey and Ashley (from work), Melissa & Dustin, Ashley Burgess, and JT Burgess.

By the time Saturday evening rolled around I was running on NO sleep for about 35 hours, but I really wasn't that tired!  Sunday morning, we got up and started getting ready to head home.  Mom came up to help us.  She brought me my 1st Mother's Day gift...a beautiful necklace and earrings with Hunter's birthstone in them.  I thought it was awesome that I got to take my 1st baby home on my 1st Mother's Day.  Once we were discharged, we took you upstairs to see meet your Ma for the 1st time.  Her eyes lit up when she saw you and you just laid on her chest and cuddled with her forever!

Once we were home on Sunday, my Mom was here most of the evening.  Jamie, Tennille, and Maddy came over!  Maddy was so sweet with him!  Once we finally got Jamie to hold him, he held him forever!!!  I'm still trying to convince him they need another one!  Josh also came by to see him.

On Monday, Nicole, Granny and Logan came to visit for a few hours.  I finally talked Granny into holding him and after that I didn't think she would put him down!  Josh came by again and brought Jones with him this time!  They decided they were gonna come get Hunter and take him shopping with them to pick up girls...ha!

Tuesday he had his 1st Dr. appointment.  He was down to 6lbs and 6 oz. and we thought he looked jaundiced.  His Dr. agreed and sent us over to the hospital to have his bili drawn.  After we did that, we took him to see Kelsie who was still in the hospital.  We were hoping to finally get to meet Hames, but he was gone with his Daddy.  While we were there, they called to let us know his bili was high and he needed a bili blanket.  We left the hospital, ran by wal-mart and then went to get his bili blanket.

Wednesday morning we had to go to the hospital to have him labs drawn.  After having his blood drawn, we took him back up to see Ma.  She was sitting up in the chair this time and held him for quite a while.  His bili was down to 16, so we were to continue the blanket and continue giving him formula with his breast milk.  Alan took him outside for a bit to get some  sun...

Joann, Ashley, and Rockelle stopped by to see him for a bit.  Sam, Jordan, and Brandon Spears also came by later on to visit!  We gave him his 1st bath...he didn't hate it as much as I expected.

We also put Hunter on his belly for belly time.  He hated it!

We had to be back at the hospital early Thursday morning to have his blood drawn again.  After that, we went to see Kels again.  This time Hames was actually there.  He is precious!  Right before we left we laid the boys next to each other for their 1st meeting!  It was funny...

After we left there, we had to take him back to the doctor.  His bili was down to 13 and his weight was up to 6 lbs 11 oz.  We got to stop the bili blanket!  After the doctor, we headed home.  He had his 1st "picnic" this day.  Alan and I sat outside and had lunch and he sat in his car seat.  He loves being outside!

On Friday, we gave him his 2nd bath.  He did not appreciate it!  I had to shower and Alan was gone, so I was a bit worried about how he would do while I was in the shower.  He did great though...he even let me dry my hair and put my make up on.  This is what he did the whole time...

Later that evening we took him to have his newborn pictures made.  Wayne drove us since my discharger papers say not to be driving and Alan drove his motorcycle.  He did not want to cooperate for pictures initially, but we finally got him to sleep and he was perfect!  This was also Alan's 36th Birthday.  We didn't do anything.  I had bought a card for him, but didn't even give it to him...major fail!  He said it was the best birthday ever anyway!

We survived our 1st week and it actually wasn't bad at all.  Alan and I slept on the couch a couple of nights.  Hunter mainly woke up twice a night to be fed but went right back to sleep.  We learned to change his diaper before feeding him so he goes back to sleep easier! We are so in love and I can't imagine life without him!

Our 2nd Week!

I can't believe how fast time is going by!  He is already changing so much and I'm already getting sad about him growing up : (

Wayne came by on Saturday and saw him for a bit!  Susan also came by for the 1st time.  Mom and Logan came up around 4pm.  Mom kept Hunter so Alan and I could go out to eat for his birthday.  I know it's early to leave him, but I know we left him in good hands!  Alan wanted to eat El Tap so we went there 1st!  We talked about Hunter the whole time!  After dinner, we went to see Alan's Ma for a bit and then went to Walmart.  We ended up being gone about 3 1/2 hours, but I was so ready to get home to him.  Mom and Logan spent the night.
Out for the 1st time without him

Sunday, Alan and I took Logan to see the Avengers!  Definitely not a movie I would have picked, but they enjoyed it!  Jo came by to see him before we left, but we had to run.  She stayed with my Mom to visit with him.  Bill and Nancy also came by while we were gone.  After the movie we went straight home.  Josh, Jake, and Jones came by to get Jake's wakeboard and they came in.  Josh got him and had him for quite a while, I'm sure Jake and Jones were wondering if they were ever going to get to go to the lake.  Brit also, came by later in the evening.

Jo took this while she was visiting and sent it to me.

On Monday we had NO plans!  He spent most of the day sleeping and eating.  We went to town to pick up our engagement pictures and we also ran to Walmart!  Alan packed his diaper bag and forgot to put an extra outfit in.  I mentioned it as we were going down the road but didn't think we would need it!  I was nursing him in the parking lot at Walmart and he had a blow out...lol!  Pooped all over him and me so he had to ride home in his diaper...I don't think he minded!  His umbilical cord also fell off!  I wasn't expecting it to be so soon!

Tuesday, Alan got up with Hunter and let me sleep in.  I slept until 11am.  It was wonderful!  We tried to do his hand prints/foot prints before his bath.  We didn't have any trouble getting a foot print but he would not cooperate for us to do a hand print.  He had his 3rd Dr. appointment today.  His weight was down to 6lbs and 9oz so they want me to start offering formula after he breastfeeds.  After we left the Dr. we went by rehab to visit Ma.  She held/fed Hunter for quite a while.  Once we got home we just had a relaxing evening.  Alan cooked supper.  We had chicken, green beans, corn, and mac and cheese!

Making silly faces at his Dr. appointment

Visiting Ma

He loves to cover his face up while he sleeps...freaks me out!

I was itching to get out of the house so on Wednesday we packed up and headed shopping.  We stopped at Target to take some things back and then went to Opry Mills.  It was the 1st time I had been since it re-opened.  Hunter did great shopping.  We put him in his stroller and never really heard a peep from him.  I pumped while going down the road for the 1st time, guess I should get used to that!  Shopping wore me out.  I had planned on getting some new clothes because it's been so long since I have bought anything non-maternity, however, I didn't buy a single thing for myself!

Shopping!

Thursday-Hunter and I spent the morning at home relaxing while Alan worked out in the yard.  Later on that evening Kelsie, Lewey, and Hames came over so the guys could work on the boat.  It was funny having the boys together.  One would cry and the other would start, then they would both stop at the same time.  I have a feeling they are going to be
T-R-O-U-B-L-E when they get older!  Brandon, Christi, and Jamie also ended up coming over and the boys cooked dinner for us.  It was nice!

Napping in the pack n play for the 1st time!

Friday-Kelsie, Hames, and Lewey came back over to do some things on the boat.  Margaux also came over to see Hunter!  Later that evening Me, Alan, and Hunter met Jo at Cheddars for dinner!  After that Alan and Hunter went home and Jo and I went shopping.  Once again, I didn't really find anything.  We got finger nail polish, stuff to make strawberry upside down cake, and movies and went home and had a girls night...with Hunter and Alan of course.  Margaux also came back over.

Having dinner at Cheddars.  Our 1st time taking him out to eat!

Can't Live Without

This is the breast pump I have.  It's the Medela Pump in Style.  It is wonderful!  Easy to take on the go if needed.  I also got the bra that makes it hands free and it's very helpful!
We rarely have to use bottles, but when we do, we use these Dr. Brown's bottles.  He has had no problems with them!
We have a Graco Pack N Play.  We use this mainly for to change his diaper.  It is in the living room so it's more convenient than taking him into his bedroom.  He doesn't really use the sleeper part much yet.
This is the diaper bag I have and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.  It's Timi and Leslie and has plenty of space
We have this Chicco car seat and LOVE it.  It's easy in and out and isn't too heavy!
Boppy Pillow...I use this when I'm nursing.
Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleeper
We weren't going to get this initially but we found it on sale and decided to get it.  I'm so glad we did.  This is what he sleeps in right now beside our bed.

Snuza Halo Monitor.
We have the Angel Care monitor but it only works in his crib.  This just attaches to his diaper and will alarm if there's no movement for 15 seconds.  It gives me some peace of mind because I'm scared to death of SIDS.
Iphone 4s.  I use this ALL the time.  When he's nursing I play on the internet.  I have an app where I keep up with when he nurses/how long/when we change his diaper, etc.  Most important, I use it for pictures/videos!!!
Self Explanatory!

Randomness!

Hunter is 10 days old today!!!  I can not believe how fast time is going by!  I still can't believe I am a Mom.  It just doesn't seem real!  We have been pretty lucky.  These 1st days have been pretty wonderful!

I have fallen in love with Alan all over again.  He is so wonderful with Hunter!  He is so, so proud of him and helps with with anything and everything.  In the 1st days home he felt like he had to get up when I got up so he would be up washing dishes when I was feeding Hunter!  I think I've finally convinced him that it's okay to sleep.  I told him if he could feed him with his boob, I'd be more than happy to let him.  We have a pretty good system going on at night.  Hunter wakes up, Alan changes him, I feed him, he goes back to sleep!  It takes him about an hour to nurse though, he's a slow eater....unlike his daddy!

On Saturday, we left him for the 1st time while we went out to eat for his birthday!  I had some guilt about leaving him so early, but we were only going 3 1/2 hours and we left him with my Mom.  I KNOW she took good care of him...and spoiled him!  I was afraid that the longer I waited the harder it would be to leave him!  Breastfeeding is going pretty good, but I don't think he's gaining weight.  He goes back to the doctor tomorrow so we will see what they suggest.

We have been so lucky to have such good friends and family!  Hunter has had lots of visitors and it seems like someone is always asking us if we need anything!  We are BEYOND blessed!  I am one happy Momma!

Nursery

Initially I wasn't really going to decorate Hunter's nursery but pinterest got the best of me and I ended up decorating.  I'm so glad I did!!!

I made the curtains.  Rug is from Urban Outfitters.

Alan made the sign with some help from Lewey and the bedding is from Pottery Barn Kids.

I got this basket as a gift at my shower from Margaux.  I bought the sock monkey right after I found out I was preggo and the little bear is from Peggy.  She brought it back from Germany

I got the hamper @ Babies R Us, the baskets on the changing table @ Target, made the changing pad cover and bought the frames from Hobby Lobby.  I made the pictures inside them...

He has plenty of books!!!  Shelves came from Hobby Lobby and they have random things on them.  The frames are from my shower.  There's a bronco, 2 Harley motorcycles, a Harley truck and the frames!

Got this hat @ Old Navy

This is from my shower and the diapers are size 2 so I'm gonna leave it together until I need them.

A full closet!!!
